Changing the clocks. The history behind the Vernal fragrance

The vernal equinox marks the clocks changing and the beginning of spring in the northern hemisphere, and the day and night being equal in length.

Many fertility rites are associated with this time of year and are represented by the symbols of our modern Easter - eggs, the hare, spring flowers and new born animals.

The vernal equinox is a celebration of the birth of spring and the reawakening of nature and hails from the ancient Saxon Goddess Eostre and Ostara, the Germanic Goddess of fertility.

Now is the time of year to sow seeds of flowers and kitchen herbs, to take time to appreciate the growing buds of nature and to harness the energy and rejoice in the renewed light and warmth that spring brings!
